Workplace General OHS Awareness Training

We have several specialized occupational health and safety workplace trainings. This general awareness course is designed to provide a snapshot of OHS awareness to employer and employees. It can be tailored to specific customer needs including omission or addition of subtopics without affecting theme of the course. This is one day training, designed for anyone involved in a workplace, whether employer or employee. Certificate is given at the end of the training for successfully candidate.

Ergonomics training

Workers come in all shapes and sizes, each with unique attributes that present certain ergonomic risk factors to a given job. The task(s) of the job itself can present risk factors that increase the likelihood of an injury.
Duration: This is a three days training, It’s very important to ensure efficiency in your workplace
Target Audience: This ergonomics training course is suitable for all managers and other workers.
Objectives: This training will participants to obtain the skills and knowledge needed to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control ergonomic risk factors in a broad range of workplace settings.
Outcomes: Immediately apply the skills learned in this program to improve human-job interface, increase productivity, reduce employee downtime from ergonomic injuries, and improve worker safety while preventing injury. Participants, who successfully complete this course, will receive a TMHS certificates.

Display equipment assessors (DSE) training

Display screen equipment (DSE) is any equipment having a screen that displays information. It will include your normal office computers and any other equipment which has computer screens or monitors (sometimes known as VDUs). Computer workstations or equipment can be associated with eyestrain, neck, shoulder, back or arm pains and fatigue. These aches and pains are sometimes called upper limb disorders (ULDs) or repetitive strain injuries (RSI).
Duration: This is three day training.
Objectives : Display Screen Equipment Risk Assessor Certificate course is delivered in-house and is designed to provide delegates with the knowledge and skills to perform effective risk assessments for display screen equipment (DSE) in the workplace. Crucially, the course focuses on best practice and the corrective actions that can be implemented to guarantee that improvements are not only identified, but put into practice.

This Display Screen Equipment Risk Assessor Certificate course is suitable for:

Basic fire awareness and fighting training

Our fire course in for community and other non fire specialized individuals such as workers, security guards, school patrons/matrons and etc. It fulfills national and international guidelines for unspecialized basic fire awareness course program.
Duration: This is one day training.
Target Audience: This course is for all staff who need to be given fire safety training.
Objectives: To enable course participants to understand basic fire awareness, and will help employers fulfill their obligations under the OHS act No. 5 of 2003.

Basic and advanced first aid training

 Refresher First Aid Training
This refresher course is ideal to those who has attended professional first aid training in the past and has been serving as first aider at his work station.
Duration: 2 Days. Venue: Training undertaken at client specific locations nationwide or at TMHS offices.

 Advanced First Aid Training

It conducted to those already received frequent first aid training at least two times as well as health professionals such as doctors and nurses. They are trained all topics of basic first aid training plus Defibrillations, emergence operations, artificial ventilation, obstetric and pediatric emergencies. We also train tailored advanced fist aid training courses such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Pediatric Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS).

 Emergency First Aid Course for Parents and Care Givers

Working at height training
Our Working at Heights (WAH) course is designed for all companies whose employees occasionally need to use a ladder, steps or working at environment that have potential risk of fall associated incidents and injuries.

Emergence preparedness training
Our EP training course is designed to provide the fundamentals of emergency preparedness programs, regulations and program maintenance for professionals new to the EP discipline.
TMHS will provide consultancy in general foundation and implementation of the emergency preparedness team, training of emergence medical responders, training of rescue team and general training to the formed emergence team. However for hazardous materials technician and fire brigades clients should seek consultation from other sources however TMHS can subcontract as necessary

Objectives: The training course is designed to precede the forum to afford the participants the opportunity to better prepare for the content of the forum and to integrate professionals new to the EP community with experienced industry practitioners. The training also serves as a valuable refresher of program basics for individuals who may have been working in EP for a period of time.

Hazards of blood borne pathogens at workplaces training.

Blood borne pathogens are infectious materials in blood that can cause disease when transmitted from an infected individual to another individual through blood and certain body fluids.
Blood borne pathogens are capable of causing serious illness and death. The most common illnesses caused by blood borne pathogens are hepatitis B (HBV), hepatitis C (HCV), and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) from HIV, or human immunodeficiency virus
Employers are required to protect workers who may be exposed to blood or Other Potentially Infectious Materials (OPIM) as a result of performing their job duties.
Duration: This is one day training.
Objectives: Increase understanding of participant on the epidemiology, symptoms, and transmission of blood borne pathogen diseases and how to develop sustainable prevention program. Help Employers to develop and implement a written Exposure Control Plan with details on the protective measures in place to reduce or eliminate the hazards of occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens.
Target Audience: All employees who have occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens are required to receive initial and annual training.
Outcomes: Participants will acquire knowledge on how to control Hazards of blood borne pathogens at workplaces training. Delegates who successfully complete this course, will receive a TMHS certificate

Health and Safety Representatives (HSR) training

All companies elected HSRs are entitled to undertake this specialized OHS training. When a HSR is first elected, it’s recommended that they undertake an initial five day HSR training course as soon as possible. Deputy HSRs also have an entitlement to this training.
The powers and functions of an HSR are to:
 Represent workers in a work group on work health and safety (WHS) matters
 Monitor work health and safety actions taken.
 Investigate work health and safety complaints from workers of the work group
 Look into anything that might be a risk to the work health and safety of the workers they represent
Duration: Beginners Training is 5 days
Objectives: This training will help a HSR to understand and exercise their rights effectively. This training equips HSRs with the confidence, skills and knowledge to represent their co-workers and to help make their workplace safer.
Outcomes: On completion of the initial HSR training course participants should be able to:
i. Understand the legal framework for Occupational Health and Safety.
ii. Describe the roles and powers of the key workplace parties (not HSRs) in the OHS Act 2003
iii. Understand the representation role of HSRs and their legal powers and entitlements.
iv. Understand the role and representative powers of a HSR in the identification of hazards and risk controls at the workplace.
v. Utilize the skills to represent members of a designated workgroup (DWG) and participate in workplace consultation, issue resolution and negotiation.

Refresher Training (1 Day)
A HSR and Deputy HSR have an entitlement to attend an annual HSR training course.
The HSR refresher training course is an opportunity to revisit aspects of the initial five day HSR training course. Some HSR refresher training courses can cover topics from the perspective of a particular industry/company.
Confined space rescue training
The Confined Space Entry & Rescue course offered by TMHS is intended for delegates who require the knowledge to allow them to apply safe working practices, reducing unnecessary risk when entering or working in confined space environments.
Our confined space training structure simulates a real life enclosure where the possibility of a dangerous environment could exist and features within the structure include top and side entry access hatches, chambers, tunnels, ladders, smoke machines and audio alarms.
Target Audience: Any personnel who are currently serving on or who will be assigned to serve on a Confined Space Rescue Team or required to perform Confined Space Rescue duties are encouraged to attend.
Duration : This is a three days training.
Objectives: This course is designed to prepare industrial fire and rescue personnel to safely enter confined space.
Outcomes: Participants will acquire knowledge on how deal with Confined space entry. Delegates who successfully complete this course, will receive a TMHS certificate.
Working safely with UV radiations training
Ultraviolet (UV) radiation is a known cause of skin cancer, skin ageing, eye damage, and may affect the immune system.
People who work outdoors are the most likely of all workers to suffer health damage from exposure to UV radiation. Other people may be exposed to UV radiation at work from non-solar sources such as arc welding, the curing of paints, inks etc and the disinfection of equipment in hospitals and laboratories amongst others in relation to non-solar sources of UV radiation, well designed engineering and administrative controls and in the case of arc welders, personal protective equipment can keep the risks to a minimum.
However with outdoor workers who are regularly exposed to the sun for long periods of time, a more comprehensive strategy is required to minimize risks. This is because the sun (exposure source) cannot be controlled like other workplace exposure hazards.
Duration: This training two days only
Target Audience: All People who work outdoors with Ultraviolet (UV) radiation
Objectives :To train participants to be familiar with the correct/safe way of using equipment. The manufacturer (user’s guide) of the equipment and/or EH&S which can assist employees on safe operating procedures.
Outcomes: Our training package is expected to enable participants to have improve awareness and understand effects, associated risks, PPE and precautions when working on UV Radiations exposed environment.
Workplace hazard communication training
All employers with hazardous chemicals in their workplaces advised to prepare and implement a written hazard communication program and make sure that an effective training program is conducted for all potentially exposed employees.
The basic goal of a Hazard Communication Program is to ensure employers and employees know about work hazards and how to protect themselves. This should help to reduce the incidence of chemical source illness and injuries. Chemicals pose a wide range of health hazards (such as irritation, sensitization, and carcinogenicity) and physical hazards (such as flammability, corrosion, and reactivity).
Duration: This course is a training of one day
Target Audience: All employers working with hazardous chemicals
Objectives: This standard course is designed to ensure that information about these hazards and associated protective measures is disseminated to workers and employers. In addition, the course gives employers the information they need to design and implement an effective protective program for employees potentially exposed to hazardous chemicals.
Outcomes: This training will enable workers to know the hazards and identities of the chemicals they are exposed to in the workplace. When workers have this information, they can effectively participate in their employers’ protective programs and take steps to protect themselves.
Stress management training
